Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi on Thursday activated the European Union's civil protection mechanism and took the necessary steps to enable the evacuation of citizens of EU members and citizens of four non-EU members, including Croatia, from Libya as soon as possible.
The Hungarian presidency of the European bloc reported on Thursday that by activating the Civil Protection Mechanism (CPM), "the EU Monitoring and Information Centre (MIC) can help locating the potential transport equipment necessary for the evacuation. The European External Action Service and the European Commission have confirmed support for the Presidency in its efforts".
