The Spanish Presidency of the European Union hopes to conclude EU accession negotiations with Croatia as soon as possible, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos said on Monday.
Moratinos welcomed Sunday's election of Social Democratic Party candidateIvo Josipovic as President of Croatia, saying that Josipovic was pro-Europeanand therefore determined to provide impetus to accession negotiations.
The Spanish Presidency will do its best to ensure that negotiations withCroatia are concluded as soon as possible, Moratinos was quoted by French newsagency AFP as saying at a press conference.
