At its first session in 2013 the government on Thursday sent to parliament three laws which, among other things, increase the wage index to the heads of the health and pension insurance institutes and their deputies and assistants.
Labour Minister Mirando Mrsic said the government opted for the salary increase because those officials would have an important role and more responsibilities in upcoming reforms and obligations related to Croatia's EU entry.
The government also proposed that once the head of state leaves the president's office they will be entitled to an office with two officials, a driver and an official vehicle for a period of five years, instead of for life as it is the case now.
