Interior Minister Tomislav Karamarko has formed a task force to examine the actions of police officer Nenad Sipusic, who told the Zagreb County Court on Monday that one of the accused for the murder of journalist Ivo Pukanic had told him about 10 days before the assassination that something big would happen in downtown Zagreb.

The ministry said in a press release that Karamarko formed the task force to examine Sipusic's conduct and what it meant in the context of the murder of Pukanic and his business associate Niko Franjic, without assessing what the deposition meant for the indictment.

A decision on possible disciplinary or penal measures against Sipusic will be made by the police director after the task force's findings.

The findings will not be published before the task force completes its work, particularly in order to avoid any connotation that the task force's activities are an attempt to influence the judges' assessment of Sipusic's testimony in the context of the accountability of the accused in the case.

Testifying on Monday, Sipusic said one of the defendants had announced a crime to him, but allegedly without saying where it would take place or who the victim or the perpetrator would be.

Sipusic had not reported that to his superiors even after the 2008 crime, saying in court that he had been certain that the police would arrive at him the during the investigation.
