Hajduk Split's domestic friendly against Spanish La Liga champions, Barcelona, may not happen after all, as the July 25 date clashes with the club's schedule
When Barcelona confirmed the match on their official online schedule a few days ago, staff members at Hajduk were a bit surprised - not that Barça had confirmed, but with the date of the friendly.
The date set for the friendly - the central event of Hajduk's 100th anniversary celebration - is a Monday between two continental competition qualifiers.
Nobody will say that the friendly is under question, but the celebratory match just may be canceled.
'We received notification from Barcelona that they accept our invitation, which is to be played in the said term on July 25. It is a fact that the term isn't the best one for us. We shouldn't jump to conclusions, and we'll try to accord the term. All I can say now is that talks will continue to accord the term', said Hajduk supervisory board member Petroslav Sapunar. Sapunar added that, with Barcelona superstars Leo Messi and Dani Alves out of the squad on international duty, Hajduk will try to get Barça to come for a lower price.
