First Deputy Prime Minister Vesna Pusic said in Zadar on Friday that she disagreed with PM Zoran Milanovic that she should have waited with her statement about the construction of the Peljesac bridge and that she stuck by her position that the public should have been informed about the matter immediately.
Responding to questions from the press, Pusic said, "It's not that we finished the job. We received a positive signal and we now have to start working very hard for the project to be realised. But the signal is positive and I think that in these conditions any good signal is good."
She said the signal was positive for Croatia and the whole region.
Milanovic said in Rijeka earlier in the day that Pusic, speaking of the European Commission's estimate that the Peljesac bridge was the best way to connect the south of Croatia with the rest of the country, did not reveal a secret but that it was a question of whether she should have said so on Thursday or waited a couple of weeks.
Asked by the press to comment on the European Commission's prediction that Croatia's gross domestic product would stagnate in 2014 as well, Pusic said this was a worrisome prediction and that it was up to the government to do its utmost to achieve growth.
"We have the chances, we have the possibilities. We should use them, starting now," she said.
