Asked about the war veterans' request for an investigation into the delivery of transcripts to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia Croatian President Ivo Josipovic said on Thursday that "everything was done through the Government's Office for Cooperation with the ICTY and if things turn out to be different, we can talk about it."
Asked about a possible investigation into the delivery of transcripts to The Hague, Josipovic said that the issue of credibility of the Brijuni transcripts was being raised adding that it was important to establish whether they were true. Josipovic reiterated it was a known fact how investigations were being launched in case of a reasonable suspicion that a crime was committed.
"Croatia is a law-based state and it respects the international legal order and we know that things that shouldn't have happened, happened, that crimes were committed and crimes must be punished," Josipovic said. He added that Croatia, being committed to the principles of the rule of law, would become an EU member statement and remain a responsible member of NATO and other international organisations.
