Ivo Josipovic officially begins his term in office as Croatia's third president after taking oath in St. Mark's Square shortly after noon. Josipovic swore before Constitutional Court President Jasna Omejec and Constitutional Court judges to perform his duties as President of the Republic conscientiously and responsibly, to the benefit of the Croatian people and all Croatian citizens.

Croatia's new President Ivo Josipovic told Croatian citizens in his inaugural address on Thursday that they had to be brave in the fight for a more just society, promising to lead the fight for justice and equity, values which he said Croatia yet had to embrace.
