Labour Party leader Dragutin Lesar, who is the only member of parliament from that party, said on Friday after his talks with President Ivo Josipovic that he had notified the head of state with the Labour Party's demand that the incumbent government should step down immediately.

Lesar said that his party did not believe that the current government could successfully wrap up the European Union accession negotiations and therefore it must resign.

He said that promises that Croatia's EU entry talks will be brought to completion in June was a manoeuvre for the incumbent government to buy more time.
