British fourth seed Andy Murray beat Croatian 16th-seeded Marin Cilic 7-5, 6-2, 6-3 in a rain-delayed match Tuesday to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the fifth consecutive year.

Cilic had arrived in the fourth round via the second-longest match in Wimbledon history — Saturday's five-hour-plus marathon against Sam Querrey — and looked slightly jaded by the end of Monday's opening chapter. But he was still no match for Murray after an extended rest.

Murray produced 16 aces, four times more than Cilic. The match was suspended on Monday in the second set (as Murray led 7-5, 3-1) because of showers, was delayed Tuesday because of more rain, then was interrupted again in the second set.

Murray ended Cilic's eight-match winning streak. Raising hopes of a first British male champion at the All England Club since 1936, Murray will face Spain's David Ferrer in the quarter-finals in a repeat of their Roland Garros clash.
