The Opposition keeps obstructing us the entire time, today as well, Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor told reporters on Friday, when asked to comment on the opposition's boycott of the parliament.
Representatives of the four parties that make up the centre-left opposition coalition, led by the SDP, on Thursday announced they would no longer participate in the work of the Croatian Parliament.
They said that their move was prompted by the behaviour of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the damage it was doing to the dignity and reputation of Parliament.
Kosor said this at the opening of a symposium on blessed Augustin Kazotic, but declined to answer other reporters questions.
Speaking at the symposium in Zagreb, Kosor stressed it was particularly important that the symposium was being held at the time Croatia was about to sign an Accession Treaty with the EU to become the 28th member of the bloc in which Croatian would be the 24th official language.
She said that blessed Augustin Kazotic had linked Croatia and Europe working as a bishop in Italy.
Blessed Augustin Kazotic, Bishop of Zagreb and the first beatified Croatian was born at Trogir in Dalmatia about 1260 and entered the Dominican Order at an early age. He completed his studies at the University of Paris and returned to his own country where he was regarded as an excellent preacher. In 1303 Blessed Benedict XI appointed him Bishop of Zagreb. He died there on August 3, 1323.
