Opening the conference "Croatia's Money Market", Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said in the northern Adriatic resort of Opatija on Monday that "the country is currently in the phase of creating prospects for overcoming the crisis," adding that everyone should give their contribution to changes.

Addressing the event after Croatian National Bank Governor Zeljko Rohatinski, who said more efforts needed to be made to overcome the crisis, Kosor said everyone needed to make their contribution towards changes.

Kosor said that by revising the budget last year, the government cut budgetary expenses by HRK 7 billion. She added that another HRK 1 billion was saved by introducing reorganisation measures in public companies.

We must have more self-confidence and determination when it comes to new budgetary cuts, Kosor said.

The government will keep implementing measures to maintain the business climate and preserve the availability of loans in cooperation with the central bank and commercial banks.

The government has launched measures aimed at economic recovery, including the so-called Models A and B, Kosor said, announcing that Model C would be launched on Thursday.

The PM stressed the government had adjusted its budgetary policy so as to maintain the stability and solvency of public finances.

She said Croatia's financial system was stable, underlining the need for stronger cooperation on regional financial markets.

Kosor also called on the owners of the Zagreb Stock Exchange to actively cooperate with issuers from the region.
