Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor has said that it was hardly possible that ministers in the cabinet of her predecessor Ivo Sanader could make moves on their own, without the knowledge of the premier.

Responding to questions from the press whether it was possible that ministers did something without the knowledge of the then PM Sanader, Kosor answered "I think that it was hardly (possible).

"I briefed the Prime Minister about all I did as Deputy Prime Minister and minister and I think that this principle should be definitely cherished. The Prime Minister in the cabinet is the most responsible and must be well informed and permanently oversee processes," Kosor told reporters on Friday in Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb where she was presenting disabled people with contracts on the employment of their personal assistants.

A few days ago, another Deputy Prime Minister in the Sanader cabinet, Damir Polancec, was taken into custody on suspicion of abuse of office following scandals in the Podravka food maker.

Commenting on the scandal involving the German carmaker Damler and its guilty plea before a Washington court regarding briberies in a score of countries, including Croatia, Kosor said that she had know nothing about this graft case in Croatia.

"Had I known anything, I would have file a report with the relevant state agencies, just as I did before," Kosor said commending efforts of the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor to clarify this case as soon as possible.
