Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said on Thursday that dialogue with the social partners would no longer be conducted "under special arrangements" as practised by previous governments, but "at the table" and through the media.
The government has been criticised by some union leaders that it conducts social dialogue through the media.
"Yes, they are right, we conduct it in part through the media as well. It used to be done behind the curtain, in the darkness of a room, under special arrangements, but it will not be that way any more. Talks will be conducted at the table, in the Economic and Social Council format, as well as through the media so that the public know what we talk about and how we use public money, because it is their money, or rather our common money," Milanovic said at the start of a Cabinet meeting.
The Cabinet session is to be followed by an inaugural meeting of the Economic and Social Council, which is composed of representatives of the government, the trade union federations and the Croatian Employers' Association.
