Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic denied at the Government session earlier today the information that the Government gives up the Neum corridor and returns to the idea of construction of the Peljesac Bridge. Milanovic says that the only thing he can promise is that the Dubrovnik area will be connected with the rest of the country, but it is not known how yet.

The question of the Peljesac Bridge has been raised recently by unofficial information that the Government was seeking the ability to build a bridge instead of the Neum corridor. Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic emphasized that the aim is to connect Dubrovnik with the rest of Croatia, but without excessive and unnecessary expenses.

'The Peljesac Bridge has been subjected to political manipulations and abuse. A while ago, I gave an instruction to ministers to discuss with the European Commission the possibility of applying for an EU fund for the Peljesac Bridge project. It turns out that it is an eligible European project. It costs around 400 million euros, and Croatia alone simply can’t finance it’, said Milanovic.

'The Neum corridor is a good option, but we need to reach an agreement with Bosnia and elaborate a lot of technical details’, Milanovic added.

‘We want to connect Croatia, but we must consider only realistic and feasible solutions. It is important to find a solution within a reasonable time frame. I can promise now only that the Dubrovnik area will be connected with the rest of Croatia by an uninterrupted connection. But whether it would be a bridge or a corridor – I still don’t know', said Milanovic at the Government session.
