Current European Union president Poland has recorded a multimedia message of congratulation for the signing of Croatia's EU Accession Treaty in Brussels on Friday, the Polish EU presidency has said on its website.

In the two-minute video "Welcome, Croatia", the citizens of Poland welcome the Union's prospective 28th member and their "Croatian brothers."

"I hope our friendship will deepen and develop," a Polish woman says, while others hope Croatia will bring "a little sun and joy" to Europe. They also say they "love Croatia" and congratulate it on qualifying for the Euro 2012 football championships.

The end of the message says this is a "big day" for Croatia and "We're waiting for you."

This project was sponsored by the Polish Foreign Ministry and the European Commission's Polish office.
