Croatian President and Army Supreme Commander Ivo Josipovic on Thursday decided to strip Branimir Glavas of his decorations due to his conduct which is contrary to the legal order and moral principles of the Republic of Croatia.

Josipovic made this decision in line with the Constitution and the law on state decorations.

Glavas was stripped of seven high state decorations.

The explanation of Josipovic's decision said that Glavas was stripped of the state decoration following the Croatian Supreme Court ruling which sentenced him to eight years in prison for war crimes.

The decision was made on 19 August and became effective immediately. It was published in the National Gazette on 29 September.

On 9 September, Josipovic also stripped Glavas of his rank as Major General.
