The Assistant Director-General of Police and head of the Department for Special Security Operations, Davor Blazevic, has been suspended for a serious breach of duty pursuant to an order by Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic and in accordance with the law, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The suspension came after photographs were published in the press on Wednesday showing that Blazevic had contacted former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, who is accused of corruption in several cases, thus damaging the reputation and interests of the police service, the statement said, announcing disciplinary action against Blazevic.
Blazevic was Sanader's bodyguard during his term as Prime Minister.
