The U.S. troops in the international Kosovo Force (KFOR) are expected to take control over northern Kosovo, predominantly populated by Serbs, as of next February, the US KFOR contingent's commander, Francisco Neuman, said on Saturday.

Brigadier Neuman was quoted by the independent Klan Kosova TV station as saying that U.S. troops would replace the French contingent, that had been deployed in the north of Kosovo 11 years.
