The Zagreb County Court has frozen the bank accounts of Ivo Sanader and his immediate family as well as the shares in several firms co-owned by the former prime minister.

The court has granted the request from the national anti-corruption office USKOK and has blocked the suspect's shares in several Croatian firms as well as his accounts and those of his wife and their two daughters in several Croatian banks, court spokesman Kresimir Devcic said on Monday.

Devcic declined to discuss details of USKOK's request for the blockade of Sanader's property, but confirmed that it did not apply to the house in Zagreb where Sanader and his family live.

Sanader is currently in custody in Austria awaiting extradition to Croatia in connection with a corruption investigation.
