The Bosnian Council of Ministers concluded at its session on Wednesday that it was possible to reduce the price of border passes for Croatian citizens entering Bosnia and Herzegovina and for Bosnian citizens entering Croatia.
It was decided that Prime Minister Vjekoslav Bevanda would address the issue with his Croatian counterpart Zoran Milanovic. The present price of the border pass is 60 Bosnian marks for Croatian citizens and 225 Croatian kuna for Bosnian citizens, and passes are to be issued on a reciprocity basis.
Border passes were introduced on July 1 when Croatia joined the European Union. Under an agreement between the two countries, such documents for citizens of Croatia are issued by Bosnia and Herzegovina, while those for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are issued by Croatia. The Bosnian authorities have not yet completed preparations for the issuing of new border passes that should include the electronic data of the pass holder.
Passes may be issued to citizens of the two countries who live within five kilometres of the border in order to make it easier for them to cross the border while carrying out their daily routines.
