Croatia's labour market perked up in the first half of 2011 after experiencing stagnation in 2010, the MojPosao online job search portal has recently reported.

In the first half of this year more than 6,000 vacancies were posted on this web portal, which was a 10 percent rise in comparison to the first half of 2010, MojPosao reported last Thursday.

Just as last year, the most sought-after jobs were salespersons, waiters, computer programmers, chefs and cooks, commercialists, administrator, call centres jobs and drivers.

The biggest supply and demand were registered in the sales sector, catering and restaurant industry and finance and accounting.

As many as 67 percent of vacancies were for permanent jobs. On the other hand, as many as 91 percent of job-seekers were interested in permanent employment.

Every second announced vacancy specified that applicants should have experience, requesting most frequently at least two to four years of previous work experience.

As for foreign language fluency, the active knowledge of English was required most often.
