Dinamo’s assembly for changes to the club statute passed on Tuesday amidst fan protests, brining new changes to the club. The Croatian league champion as of yesterday is a ‘Građanski’ or ‘Civil’ football club while the club’s de facto chairman, Zdravko Mamic, was promoted from the made-up sounding position of ‘executive vice president’ to ‘executive president’

More than 1,500 Dinamo supporters, the Bad Blue Boys, gathered in front of the stadium at 6 o’clock on Tuesday, loudly protesting against the figure of Zdravko Mamic and demanding a more important role in the way the club is led.

The assembly brought about certain changes in the way the club is led. According to amendments and annexes, the president’s mandate was extended to last five years instead of the previous four, just as the mandates of members of the board.

The most important change, however, was the promotion of Zdravko Mamic from executive vice president to executive president.

Croatian Football Federation (HNS) President Vlatko Markovic was relieved of his duties in the assembly which he cannot perform due to his position as the HNS chief. Club director Damir Vrbanovic was also relieved of his post in the club assembly.

Mirko Barisic was given another mandate as club president, which, according to the new mandate, will last five years.

Zdravko Mamic submitted Dinamo’s financial report for 2010 according to which Dinamo earned 232 million kuna while spending 203 million, making for a profit of 29 million kuna.

The assembly unanimously voted in the changing of the clubs prefix to ‘Građanski’ with 57 members present voting in favor. In fact, all proposals were voted in unanimously.

As of next year, the assembly will contain up to eight members of the club who must be confirmed by the Supervisory Board. These members must have been Dinamo club members for at least five years and without a criminal record.

This, however, did not satisfy the civil initiative “Together for Dinamo” and the protesting fans who demand a model according to which each and every registered club member has one vote in club assemblies – a similar model to those used by Barcelona, Real Madrid and Schalke 04.

“That would lead the club towards self-destruction,” said President Mirko Barisic of the demand.
