Disgruntled farmers are continuing to protest and block roads, their representatives decided in Pavlovac on Sunday afternoon at an extraordinary meeting, and they will not drive to Zagreb with their tractors as previously announced.
Speaking on Croatian Radio, they said the meeting unanimously concluded to continue with the road blocks until further notice.
After police stopped farmers with 50 tractors outside Osijek who had embarked on a protest drive to Zagreb, their leaders decided to scrap the drive.
Zvonko Pipic, one of the leaders, told a news conference the disgruntled farmers would submit to Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic by 10 am on Monday their demands in writing.
He said the farmers would forward a complaint to Brussels after collecting 2,000 signatures, which they began doing today.
He reiterated that the farmers demanded the payment of last year's subsidies in full, not slashed by 37 per cent.
Croatian Farmers Trade Union president Tomislav Pokrovac said it was disgraceful and undemocratic of the police to have stopped the farmers.
He said French farmers protested even if three per cent of subsidies were not paid, adding that Croatian farmers would follow their example "and be even more rigorous."
