The opening ceremony marking the beginning of the 64th Dubrovnik Summer Festival was held in front of the Church of St. Blaise in that southern Croatian coastal resort on Wednesday evening, with Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, Slovenian President Borut Pahor, Bosnian Presidency member Nebojsa Radmanovic and local authorities attending the event of hoisting the Libertas flag.
Over 2,000 participants are taking part in this year's festival. The festival runs until 25 August and its programme includes over 136 plays, concerts, and dancing and folklore performances at a score of venues in Dubrovnik.
