The presidency of the European People's Party (EPP) will hold one of its next meetings in Zagreb, Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said in Meise near Brussels after she attended a summit meeting of the EPP, a group in the European Parliament, on Wednesday evening.
"We have agreed (on the session) in principle, now we must fix the exact date. This will be a great event and I believe that it will happen by the end of this year," said Kosor, the leader of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
Kosor said that in Meise she had held a series of bilateral talks with other participants in the EPP gathering who expressed their support to Croatia's efforts to finish its European Union accession negotiations.
The leaders of the EPP group, which includes 73 centre-right parties from 39 countries, traditionally meet ahead of each EU summit.
