The police on Wednesday completed the checking of the computer equipment of blogger Marko Rakar, who was arrested last week on suspicion of being connected to the Internet leakage of the so-called homeland war veterans register, namely on suspicion of revealing classified information.
Rakar was released from custody shortly after his arrest.
"Police did not find anything and I expect it would soon be announced that I am no longer a suspect in the veterans' register case, as this is important for my safety and the safety of my family," Rakar told Hina, adding that he was aware that the police were not obliged to do that,
Rakar's attorney Maro Mihocevic said police no longer had a reason for any proceedings against his client.
Asked if Rakar was still a suspect, spokesman for the Interior Ministry, Krunoslav Borovec said he could not speak about the case as the investigation was still ongoing.
He said that this morning several persons were taken in for questioning in connection to the publication of the veterans' register, declining to reveal how many persons were being questioned or their identities.
The Police Directorate and the Defence Ministry also confirmed today that police were questioning several people in connection with the Internet leakage of the Veterans' Register. The Defence Ministry also confirmed that police raided the apartment of one of their employees.
The defence ministry's employee in question is Enes Felic who said he had nothing to do with the leakage of the classified documents. He accused state secretary Zeljko Gorsic of setting him up because he had not agreed to be transferred.
Earlier this week, Felic complained to the media that he was being mobbed at work and discriminated against on the ethnic basis as he is a Muslim.
The Defence Ministry dismissed Felic's accusations in the strongest terms.
