The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) has stated that it supports a referendum on facilitating conditions for calling referenda to be held simultaneously with the referendum on Croatia's admission to the European Union, in accordance with an agreement which the Croatian government and five trade union federations reached.
The position of the HDZ is that the said agreement, which was preceded by an initiative of trade unions who collected a large number of signatures of citizens, who backed the holding of that referendum, should be supported as the expression of the highest democratic standards, the HDZ said in a press release on Monday.
