The Croatian World Congress (HSK) on Tuesday called on Croatians to join, on Saturday, a protest to be held in The Hague against the trial court verdict in the case of Croatian generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac, and the Hague tribunal's description of the 1995 Croatian army and police operation "Storm" as a joint criminal enterprise.
The HSK, which will organise the protest rally in The Hague, called on Croatians to symbolically support it.
"On Saturday, September 24, let all church bells ring and city sirens go off, let ship sirens and car horns be sounded across Croatia as a sign of support for the truth, justice and patriotism," the HSK said in a statement calling on citizens to join in "resolute opposition to the unjust trial court verdict against Croatian generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac and the liberation military operation Storm being called a joint criminal enterprise."
The peaceful rally in The Hague will also be attended by members of an association of war veteran motorcycle riders which goes by the acronym ZMKVC, who will organise a motorcycle marathon to The Hague, to start in the central town of Udbina on Thursday, September 22. The 1,600-kilometre ride will last 24 hours.
