The procedure of issuing an international warrant for the arrest of former Croatian prime minister Ivo Sanader is nearing the end at this moment, spokesman for the Croatian Interior Ministry Krunoslav Borovec told Croatian Television on Thursday evening.
We can expect the international arrest warrant to be issued at any moment and announced to all Interpol member states, Borovec said.
Police have no information for now that Sanader holds any other citizenship than Croatia, he said.
Borovec stressed that all circumstances will be determined once Sanader is found and an extradition procedure launched.
The Office for the Prevention of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) earlier this evening ordered an investigation of former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, asking the police to arrest him and the Zagreb County Court to put him in investigative prison.
