Croatian Alpine skier Ivica Kostelic was awarded the Serge Lang Trophy as the Skier of the Year at a ceremony in Soelden, Austria, on Thursday.
The award, created in 1963, is given by the International Association of Ski Journalists. This is the first time Kostelic has won it.
Other skiers competing with Kostelic for the trophy were Maria Riesch, Didier Cuche and Christof Innerhofer.
In 2001, the Serge Lang Trophy went to Kostelic's sister, Janica Kostelic.
