Croatia's best female swimmer Sanja Jovanovic defended her European Champion title in the women's 50-metre backstroke at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Eindhoven on Saturday.
Jovanovic, who has the world record in this category, today swam the race in 27.10 seconds, which was enough to retain the title she had won in Istanbul last year.
This is the first medal for Croatia at the championships in Eindhoven.
The silver went to Italian Elena Gemo (27.13), and Czech Simona Baumrtova (27.30) grabbed the bronze.
