Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) president Jadranka Kosor denied on Monday that there were secret agreements on a deal between the HDZ and the State Prosecutor's Office regarding the Fimi Media corruption trial, in which the party is one of the defendants.
"Nobody has ever talked to me as president of the HDZ about a possible deal and there are certainly no secret agreements or secret talks," Kosor told reporters after an HDZ presidency meeting.
She voiced confidence that such talks had not been held with any of the presidency members.
Asked how the Fimi Media trial would affect the upcoming intra-party elections in the HDZ, Kosor said the trial was one thing and the elections another.
The trial began at the Zagreb County Court today. The accused are the HDZ as the first political party in Croatia accused of corruption, its former president Ivo Sanader, three other former party officials, and the owner of the Fimi Media advertising agency.
