The leader of the Trade Union of Istria and Kvarner, Bruno Bulic, on Friday criticised the "Brijuni Rivijera" project, claiming the project would suit the interests of investors whose only goal is profit and lead to the irreparable devastation of the most valuable natural resources of Pula.
Bulic believes that the planned five-star hotels to be built at Pineta, Hidrobaza and Katarina-Monumenti could in no way create 2,000 new jobs, as announced by politicians.
Speaking from my experience as a union activist, I claim that the number of new jobs cannot be higher than 500 under optimal conditions, as proved by an analysis made by the trade union in line with up-to-date tourist standards, Bulic said at a news conference in Pula.
The Brijuni Rivijera project will offer mainly seasonal employment with low-paid jobs, the unionist said.
