Representatives of the Turkish company Caliskan, their lawyers, the Croatian petrochemical companies Dioki and Dina, and the Croatian economy and finance ministries held a meeting at the Croatian Finance Ministry on Monday.

The meeting settled mutual relations and the obligations of the state, which is seeing to providing EUR 5 million for the payment of the first two late salaries to Dina and Dioki workers, the government said in a press release.

The state has committed to actively participating in the reaching of a settlement between banks, state companies and the tax office, as well as in Dina's financial restructuring.

Representatives of Dioki, Dina and Caliskan will hold a meeting to define their relations in the process of Dina's sale and once they reach an agreement, the money for the salaries will be paid, the press release said.

Earlier today, Dina union representative Predrag Mihaljevic said the company's workers would stage an hour-long warning rally on the bridge connecting the northern Adriatic island of Krk and the mainland on Thursday.

Speaking to the press, he said they would scrap the plan only if they received their salaries and that they would decide at the rally whether to block traffic on the bridge.

Mihaljevic said that if anyone tried to stop the workers from rallying, they would immediately abandon Dina's plants, which contain 900 tonnes of chemicals, otherwise they would leave them on Friday.

He said the last salary, one-third of the monthly amount, was paid for December 2011.

According to the union, the government wants production to start at a specific date, to which Caliskan cannot agree because this also depends on the creditors of Dioki and Dina.
