Swiss attorney Guenael Mettraux has joined the defence team of Croatian army general Ante Gotovina, Croatian Television said on Friday night.
Gotovina was sentenced to 24 years' imprisonment pending appeal by the Hague war crimes tribunal in mid-April.
Mettraux successfully defended Bosnian army general Sefer Halilovic and Macedonian Interior Minister Ljubo Boskoski, both of whom were acquitted by the Hague tribunal.
It was also announced that Gotovina's defence team would submit its appeal against the sentence on Monday.
