Agriculture Minister Tihomir Jakovina said on Thursday that technical services in the Agriculture Ministry have made an omission when they issued a statement according to which producers of wines who use the label "Prosek" would have to cease using this label as of 1 July, when Croatia joins the European Union, saying he would sanction those responsible.

"Technical services made an omission. In any case, the person who made an omission will have to answer for that, as the statement was made public before being verified by assistants," Jakovina told the press before the government session.

The minister announced that immediately after joining the EU, Croatia would launch the process to have its "Prosek" wine registered as a trademark.

Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic said she did not expect problems in the sale of Prosek, recalling that the list of concrete names of alcoholic beverages had been defined during negotiations with the EU on agriculture.
