Agriculture Minister Tihomir Jakovina said on Thursday farmers were entitled to protest but that protests were not justified at this moment because the state budget had not been adopted yet.
He was commenting for the press on agricultural producers' announcements that they would protest against cuts in state aid for farmers.
"Also, we have many outstanding issues and problems in agriculture and we are dealing with them on a daily basis, seeking solutions to rescue the dairy industry, so the protests refer only to grants and expected or acquired entitlements."
Asked if the state grants for agriculture would be cut, Jakovina said they would be "appropriate".
