Opening the 2nd fair of agricultural product and equipment Agroexpo, Agriculture Minister Tihomir Jakovina said in the eastern town of Virovitica on Saturday that analysis and projections concerning a possible reduction of the Value Added Tax rate for food products was currently being drawn up.

This government has so far reduced VAT in the tourism sector, baby food and similar products, however, lowering VAT on food is not a decision that can me made quickly, the minister said. VAT can go down is funds are secured in the budget or if austerity measured which would compensate for that would be adopted, Jakovina stressed.
