The Hungarian oil company MOL would be satisfied with the appointment of two Croatian ministers to the supervisory board of Croatia's INA because they carry weight and can bring changes, a MOL source said in Budapest on Monday.

That would be excellent, the source said on condition of anonymity.

They are the two strongest ministers whose membership in the supervisory board would facilitate talks, decision-making and agreements, and they would have first-hand information, the source said, adding that MOL was willing for any kind of talks with the Croatian side.

Croatia has proposed appointing Economy Minister Radimir Cacic and Finance Minister Slavko Linic to INA's supervisory board.

In a monitoring report on Croatia, Brussels said last month the appointments were a cause of concern but did not rule them out as a possibility, saying an effective defence system must be created in order to prevent conflict of interest in such cases.

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said after the report that Croatia would not scrap the plan to appoint the two ministers.

In order for them to be appointed, the Conflict of Interest Act needs to be amended. Consultations with Brussels have also been announced.
