Olympic medallists Sandra Perkovic and Giovanni Cernogoraz have been voted Croatia's Athletes of the Year 2012 by Sportske Novosti sports magazine, while the national handball and water polo teams have been voted best women's and men's national teams respectively.
This was the first such title for discus thrower Perkovic, who won a gold medal in this year's Olympics in London. She received 378 votes, while shooter Cernogoraz, who took the gold in the men's trap event at the London Games, claimed 330 votes. It was also his first Athlete of the Year title.
The women's national handball team reached the semi-finals in London, while the men's national water polo team captured the gold.
