The president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Zoran Milanovic, on Saturday commented on two explosions that took place in Zagreb earlier this week saying that the year started fiercely expressing confidence however that Zagreb would remain a safe and open city.
"This year started fiercely, explosive devices are going off in Zagreb," Milanovic said. We have to realise that there is no such thing as absolute safety, but I firmly believe that Zagreb will remain what it was all these years - a safe city with a good quality of life and that nothing will change in that aspect, Milanovic said at the start of the SDP Head Committee's session.
He recalled that five and a half years ago, as a candidate for party president, he said that he would run the SDP as a open party of open people in an open society. This will be important in the years ahead of us, Milanovic said, adding that he wanted to run the country in the same manner.
He also addressed the events ahead of Croatia this year - local elections, the solving of the economic crisis and entering the EU.
The central topic of today's SDP Head Committee's session will be local election, according to the Committee chairman Josip Leko.
