Opening the new maternity ward at the Split General Hospital on Monday, Croatian PM Jadranka Kosor told reporters that she expects that the debt of the national oil company INA to the state will be dealt with by the end of the current year
Commenting on a conflict between Finance Minister Ivan Suker and public sector trade unions concerning the payment of Christmas bonuses, Kosor said she was aware that collective agreements had been signed and that she was confident a compromise solution would be reached.
She said Christmas bonuses for employees in public companies would be discussed with union representatives and that she would advocate that the bonuses be the same in all public companies.
Asked if the law on the place of residence would be amended so as to prevent the abuse of identities of dead people to cast votes, Kosor said the amendments to the law had been drafted and would enter into force after the presidential election.
The amendments to the said law will be the foundation for putting voter registers in order.
Kosor also said in 2010 the government would help the construction sector, which is currently facing financial difficulties.
