Professor Ivan Djikic, a Croatian scientist working in Germany, said on Monday that he had terminated cooperation with the Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences (MEDILS) in Split, criticising MEDILS director Miroslav Radman for a number of problems, including the lack of transparency in the management of the institute.
In a a statement for the media, Djikic said his decision was also prompted by poor communication and interpersonal relations at the institute, the lack of responsibility, noncompliance with agreements, and the lack of long-term funding for scientific projects.
Djikic said that successful laboratories at the institute, such as the one headed by Dr. Bojan Zagrovic, would move to Vienna, and that his laboratory for cancer biology would move to Frankfurt.
