Slovenia does not oppose the opening and closing of the remaining chapters in Croatia's EU entry negotiations, spokesman for the Slovenian Foreign Ministry Milan Balazic told a news conference in Ljubljana on Wednesday.

Balazic said Slovenia regretted the fact that only one chapter - Free Movement of Goods - would be closed at the accession conference on Monday, while none of the three remaining chapters would be opened.

He said Slovenia supported Croatia's EU membership talks.

According to him, Slovenia did not have reservations about the opening of the three remaining chapters - the Judiciary, Market Competition and Foreign, Security and Defence Policy.

"Slovenia advocated that the accession conference be held at a later date so that Croatia could open more chapters, but the Spanish EU presidency was not interested in that," Balazic said.
