The 3,730 polling stations at which ethnic minorities could elect 311 councils in 187 units of local self-government and 227 representatives in 129 local self-government units were closed at 7 pm on Sunday.
According to the State Election Commission, the election passed peacefully and the turnout by 4 pm throughout Croatia was only eight per cent.
Although the turnout by 4 pm was lower than four years ago, the Commission said the final results could reach the level of 2007, when about 12 per cent of members of national minorities voted in the polls.
The final results will be released on Monday.
