Several thousands people, organised through the online social network Facebook, rallied in Cvjetni Trg square in central Zagreb on Friday evening for yet another in a series of protests against the government.
Among the speakers who addressed the crowd was a parliamentary deputy of the regional HDSSB party, Dinko Buric, who accused the ruling HDZ of "organised crime and corruption" and urged Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor to step down.
Buric called on the police "to protect the people from the thieves and not the thieves from the people."
Protesters were calling for elections.
Protest organiser Ivan Pernar announced the next protest rally for Sunday.
No incidents were reported.
