The Croatian police director's chief of staff, Krunoslav Borovec, said on Thursday the murder of Serbian mobster Srecko Simic, whose body was discovered in Zagreb earlier this week, was not the first case in which the Croatian and Serbian police forces were intensively cooperating, announcing that cooperation would further improve, both on the operational and strategic levels.

Speaking on Croatian Television, Borovec said the Croatian police did not start investigating Simic's murder when his body was identified, but a month before, when his family in Serbia reported him missing after he entered Croatia.

Borovec announced the establishment of a joint centre for combating organised crime, as discussed by Croatian Interior Minister Tomislav Karamarko and his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic, calling on Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and other countries in the region to join the project.
