The concert was the result of cooperation between the two friendly countries and was held under the auspices of Austria's President Heinz Fischer and Croatia's President Ivo Josipovic, in cooperation with the mayors of Vienna and Zagreb, Michael Haeupl and Milan Bandic respectively, who attended the concert.

The concert's programme included works by Ivo Josipovic, Ravel and Mozart.

In attendance were Austrian Parliament Speaker Barbara Prammer, Austrian politicians, diplomats and cultural figures as well as Croats living and working in Vienna.

In the morning, a panel was held on Croatia's EU accession with the head of the European Commission office to Austria, Richard Kuehnel, the president of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and honorary president of Eurochambres, Christoph Leitl, Austrian Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management Minister Nikolaus Berlakovich, and others.

Around 40 various events were held around Austria during June to mark Croatia's accession to the EU on July 1, and Austrian media reported that this was confirmation of the exceptional bilateral relations between the two countries.

As has been underscored in numerous Croatian-Austrian bilateral meetings at the highest level, Croatia and Austria are connected historically, have exceptional bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic today, and can expect even better cooperation in the future as good friends and partners within the EU.

Austrian media have dedicated a lot of attention to Croatia over the past few days ahead of its accession to the EU. OERF radio shows began broadcasts by saying in Croatian, "Good morning Croatia". Radio and TV shows spoke about all aspects of life, work, beauties as well as problems in Croatia due to the economic crisis.

Austrian Radio Television's "Weltjournal" said last Wednesday that Croatia was most beautiful at sea and that Austrians happily vacation in Croatia.
