Croatia exported HRK 55.18 billion in commodities in 2009, or 20.3 per cent less than in 2008, while at the same time its imports declined by 25.7 per cent to HRK 111.7 billion, figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics show.
The foreign trade deficit was HRK 56.5 billion, down 30.3 per cent year-on-year.The import-export ratio was 49.4 per cent, compared to 46 per cent in 2008.
Viewed in euros, exports totalled EUR 7.5 billion and imports EUR 15.2billion, with the deficit at EUR 7.7 billion. Compared to 2008, exports droppedby 21.5 per cent, imports by 26.8 per cent and the trade gap by 31.4 per cent.
Expressed in US dollars, exports fell by 25.8 per cent to USD 10.47 billionand imports by 31 per cent to USD 21.2 billion. The foreign trade deficit wasUSD 10.7 billion, down 35.4 per cent from 2008.
